During my 25 years as a Yellow Page consultant, I've looked at 1000's of ads and consulted with every type of company imaginable. So I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert when it comes to determining what makes a successful Yellow Page advertisement. It begins with the placement. Is it easy to find? For example, if you are a plumber selling water heaters, did you place the ad under plumbing or water heaters? Look in your local book and decide where the majority of ads are residing. It's rather like fishing where most of the other folks are putting their hooks. You want to be in the heading that's most used for your particular product or service. The same would apply to washing machine repair. Do you go in that category or under appliance repair? Check out the competition for the answer.

Make sure that you call a plumber as soon as things start to act up. You will save a lot of money in the long run because you won't be dealing with the damages caused by flooding after the fact. Most people will find that they are not too willing to call in a professional water quality early on but it is worth it. It is better to pay someone for a minor issue rather than to try and fix it yourself and end up with a huge mess.

Replace recessed lights. Lights can be recessed into the ceiling or into a soffit. Traditionally, recessed light fixtures have openings to allow the heat from the light bulbs to escape. However, when they are off, air leaks through these same openings. Sealing or covering the fixtures with insulation is a fire hazard. For fixtures recessed into soffits, then the top of the soffit can be sealed and the soffit vented into the house, not into the attic.

If you have never tackled a job such as this before, it is easy to feel a little apprehensive. Just remember that there is no serious damage which can be done. If you don't manage to carry out the repair successfully, you can always resort to calling out a professional plumber. It shouldn't be necessary, though, as there is plenty of detailed instruction available. Once you have carried out one repair, you will have increased confidence to tackle any others. Keep a list of everything you do, and try to find out what you would have needed to pay to have the job carried out by a professional. You will save a lot of money by not having to rely on contractors for plumbing.
